So, officially I'm THE WORST at blogging in the world. I'll give you all a quick catch-up on life over here and then I PROMISE to start blogging regularly.

OK, so as most of you know I moved back to Arizona. I am currently attending Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy in Chandler. It's just off of Chandler Blvd. west of the I-10. And I'm LOVING it. I have 300 of 1600 hours and I get to move to the floor in about 3 weeks or so. I'm super pumped.
A little about how the school works:

Phase I: The first phase is a seven week program that basically covers the "Toni & Guy Classics." Which essentially is what TIGI(Toni&Guy) consider you're "bread and butter" of hairdressing if you will. It consists of about 10 cuts and 10 coloring techniques that, according to TIGI, are the basics of all hairdressing techniques. (something like that)
I finished that phase and am currently in...

Phase II: This phase is slightly more personalized. Where phase one was extremely structured and paced, in here I get to find a little bit of my hairdressing personality. We take all of the basics we learned in the first phase, and take it up a couple notches. We start to learn some of the "short-cuts" and things, also other ways to achieve the same look with faster, more effective techniques. We start formulating our own color and experimenting with it. We also get to work on models that we bring in. We're supposed to have 4 "test-out" models. 1 male, and a long, medium, and short haired women. All 4 must be a cut AND color in the same day. After two weeks, I already have 3 of my 4 test outs completed and I'll be finishing the final one on Saturday. Since I have them completed, I can bring in anyone now. even if it's just a cut or just a color. We're encouraged to start a "portfolio" so i can use all the models i can get. ;) (Let meknow if you need anything done! while I'm still in phase II it's free cuts and a $10 product charge for color.) Next, I'll move to the

Clinic Floor: Basically, this is where I am the rest of my time in school. I'll take clients on any days that I don't sign up for extra classes. Extra classes can be anything from learning more about the color lines to a fast foiling class for quicker highlighting techniques. Mostly, I'll be taking clients though.

I'm very excited about it and I'm loving it!

I finially got my records transferred to a ward here, I'm officially a part of the Valencia Ward in Gilbert. It's a singles ward and I'm actually enjoying it. It's VERY different than the college ward, but in a better way. It's much more dynamic and doesn't feel as monotonous.

My mom and I are working on getting my room here decorated and organized. I'm getting pretty excited about that. It will make this feel a little more like home :) which is a good thing.

I'm going to prom... again. ;) Ben is still a senior, so I'm going with him and his friends to their prom. I didn't go to mine and the one I did go to was more of a favor to a friend than anything else, so I'm excited. I got my dress and it's BEAUTIFUL. :) It's a VIBRANT red with just enough frills and ruffles to make it feminine vs. sexy. ;) I'm still on the hunt for some good black heels, but I'm very excited about that as well.

I think that's mostly it for now... I'll have to get some pictures of my dress and stuff. I'll make sure to get some from that night and put them on here.

And just for good measure... I'm down 15 lbs and only 15 more to go before swimsuit season! :) Wish me luck!

Happy Birthday to MEEEE!

So, my roommates decided to throw me a party for my birthday. I'm working for a company called Progrexion (pronounced progression) and I basically call people that requested a credit repair consultation. I talk with them about their credit a little bit, we talk about their goals and things their trying to acheive by repairing their credit and then I sell them a Credit Repair Service with Lexington Law Firm. if you go to www.lexingtonlaw.com it tells you all about hte program and how it works and what not... so if anyone needs credit repair... :) let me know.

I've been working there for three weeks now and the money isn't bad. :)

This Friday, I'm moving into my apartment... finally. :) The Beckley's have been wonderful in letting me stay here, but I'm definitely glad to get to a place where I can feel settled. Once I get there, I'll be sure and take pictures and everything so you can all see :)

So, the last few weeks, i've been spending most of my time with my new friend Kate. She's REALLY great. She is also a student here at BYU, but then again, WHO ISN'T?!?!?! Her major is Communications with minors in German and Philosophy. She's actually studying to take her LSAT's? I think that's what it's called. The test to get into Law School? Anyways, she's studying to do that right now so, obviously, she can go to Law School.

Anyways, that's most the updates I have at the moment. :) sorry I've been lazy lately.

I didn't burn the dinner!!!

Well... It got me out of the house for a minute, and then it occupied my mind for a couple hours.
Well I decided to make chicken enchiladas, and when I put the first tortilla in the HOT oil, the oil popped and FRIED my arm...
Fun, huh? :)
Needless to say... the dinner came out and was NOT burned. My arm, however, suffered a much worse fate.

I still haven't found a job, but I know as long as I keep my faith in the Lord, everything will turn out ok. :)

the white house, the house by the hospital...

House number one. This house is the first house my family lived in after we moved to Idaho. There is two levels, an dmy family lived in the bottom level. Not long after...

We then moved to this house. This is the house that my family lived in right after I was born. I'm not sure how long we lived there, but we then moved to...

THE WHITE HOUSE. This house is INFAMOUS. As you can see, the house has two parts. The part on the right was actually built by my dad. Out of the whole house, there is only one bathroom.

This house is the place where SO MANY family memories were made... When we sold this house, we sold it for about $40-$45 thousand ten years ago... It's actually for sale today for $149 thousand.

This is where we lived after that. Or at least... the same land. It was a three bedroom two bath single wide and we had about 12 people living in it. MAN those were soem good times. :)

One house is missing... i forgot to get a picture of that one as we drove by, but it was about 6 or 7 thousand square feet it was HUGE and had about eight bedrooms. haha. needless to say we didn't stay there long...

This is the same picture from yesterday, but it's the hosue we lived in next. Again, the hospital has since bought it and turned it into landscape...

After that, we moved to Aberdeen, ID where we lived for a year and a half and after that we moved back to Arizona...

The rest is HISTORY...

My parents are kind of messing around with the idea of moving back to Rexburg... BYU has an Automotive Program for my dad and my mom thinks she can convince her mortgage company to open a branch here...

I really doubt it will happen, but I have to say... If my parents live here it makes the idea of BYU I seem about 1800 times less appealing... :) not that I don't love my parents.

Anyways, it's kinda the same stuff as yesterday, but a little more in depth with the Guthrie/Rexburg history.

Day one...

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196453002898850" style="DISPLAY: block; By taking a test and where I ranked in my class, i wouldn't have to pay tuition or anything.
Soon, however, I started to realize I wanted to go somewhere with the esteem of a four year university. I started applying to several different colleges just to see what I could get back. I applied to NAU, BYU, BYUI, and BYUH. The only one I didn't get accepted to was BYU. I was bummed for a bit, but after I realized I had gotten accepted to a school in Hawaii, I was PUMPED!!! I turned in my intent to enroll, and then things started not to feel right. The cost of living was so high in Hawaii that it didn't feel like it was going to be a posibility. I began looking for other avenues. I thought about staying here for a while and just getting some generals out of the way, but not many people were keen on that idea. So, I began to focus some energy on NAU. I got accepted, and I auditioned for their music program and was provisionally accepted there as well. I then received a letter form NAU stating that I was being awarded the Deans Scholarship. Which was equal to $2,500 for each year I was there. Adding up to $10,000 dollars in free education. But something still felt wrong.
(I know what you're thinking)
After having a few minor rows with my parents and a long talk with my bishop, i decided it was time to employ the service of my Heavenly Father.
I began to pray to Him and I would ask him what I was supposed to do. I wouldn't receive any direct answers, and I was confused at why I was finding these answers so difficult to hear.
Suddenly, the thought of BYUI literally had popped into my head. From the moment I knew I was accepted there, I blew it off, so the thought was a little spiradic.
The following weekend was conference, and during the week prior in seminary, my seminary teacher had talked about making sure we had questions we needed answered before we started watching conference.
On sunday, when I sat down for conference I knew my questions and I had a pad of paper and and a pen and i just wrote away. :) In the middle of the session, I felt a very calming sense of peace come over me and the spirit whispered to me that BYUI was where I needed to go.
As soon as conference was over I went in my room, I said a prayer and nothing has felt wrong about it since then.

(I think i'm writing this all to reassure myself, but now you all get something to read)

I guess my point is that even though i'm having trouble with my car situation trying to get approved for a loan, and it's not going to be easy to love the people I love and care about here, I know it's all going to be ok.
This is where i'm supposed to be going, and I know that.
I know that no matter what is thrown my way as long as i keep my focus straight, I'll be not only prepared for whatever comes, but less will come because I'm following the Lord. :)

Thanks for letting me reassure myself to you. :)
Also, thank you shanda for the heads up about the job :) I appreciate it!!!

My new haircut!

So, I decided to cut my hair on Monday, and here's what it looks like! :) I'm still trying to get used to it, but hopefully it'll grow on me positively :)
This message was sent using the Picture and Video Messaging service from Verizon Wireless!
To learn how you can snap pictures and capture videos with your wireless phone visit www.verizonwireless.com/picture.

To play video messages sent to email, QuickTime 6.5 or higher is required. When you audition for regionals, your auditioning against 400 + people and only 100 make it. well, if you make it, you are then allowed to audition for All state. so 800 kids try out for all state and 200 make it...

I"M ONE OF THEM!!! :)

Cool, huh?

That's my exciting news for the day. :)

All State and OUTOFTHIS State for college.

Oh boy. All state auditions were this weekend... I'm not sure if I made it yet, but I'll know within the next couple days. CRAZY difficult.

So, I got a 2500 scholarship to NAU for each year I attend that school. The scholarshipwas given based on Academic excellence...

Here is the problem... I don't want to go to NAU. I went there, and I had a scholarship music audition, but something jsut didn't feel right... I don't know, but I just didn't LOVE the school like I thought I was going to.

I'm still pushing for BYU Hawaii, but we'll see what happens there. Tuition may just be a bit too expensive for me. :)

Hehe, sorry it's short, but the last couple weeks have been rather UNeventful. :)

Welcome, to the North-Central Regional Honor Choir 2008.

:) It's been a while... Sorry guys!!

Ok, so this weekend was Regional weekend. To give a short description of what regionals is... It's basically a choir that you audition for in high school. You go with a solo prepared to audition with, and they give you a score out of 60. Then, you enter a "sight reading" audition where you have to sing the music without the help of any instuments other than a triad of the key it's in, and you also sight read a voice part of an "Alleluia" song. On this, you are given a score out of 40. (100 total)

I auditioned both my sophomore and junior year and did not make it. This year, however, I MADE IT!!! I was also 7th Chair. Which is to say something like 7th place out of 25 that make it, and hundreds that try out. :) You can imagine my excitement.

Our clinician, or the man that directed our choir, was Mr. Hebert (pronounced ay-bear) and he was PHENOMENAL!!!

Basically, we practice our music individually for a couple weeks, and then take an 8-5 rehearsal with all 100 people, and then an 8 to about 2:45 rehearsal with our final performance on the second day at 3:00 PM.

It was all SO unbelievable. I thought I loved music, but it's nothing to how I feel about it now!

ALSO, because I made the Regional Choir, I am now eligible to audition for the All State Choir. Which is even more prestigious!!!

Basically, it made me very happy. :)

OH!!! And in othe ramazing news... I made it into BYU Hawaii. As long as my financial situation will allow, I'll be moving to Hawaii this summer... Pretty sweet, right?

Mallory, The Great!

I must tell you what an awesome moment it is when you come to the realization that you REALLY are a daughter of God. I was home sick for a couple days last week, and ever since I just feel like I've been going a MILLION miles an hour trying to get caught up on what i missed plus start everything that I've got coming up!

I was home on Monday and Tuesday, and tried to get some rest but it didn't work very well. Mostly, I stayed up and watched pointless movies like The Notebook. :)
I went back to school on Wednesday, but I still wasn't feeling well so I wasn't very attentive. Thursday was the Chandler-Gilbert Choir Festival, and it went REALLY well. Our choir sang, and the clinician had good things to say about us.
Ever since that week, I've been trying to get caught up with everything that I missed that week. Spanish projects, music theory packets, and memorizing my music for my concert on Tuesday!
Everything kind of fell into place today. Mr. Johnston gave me an extension on my work I owed him, and my grades are all good. A's!!! YAY! We had Seminary Conference, (mock version of General Conference) and Brother Pickeral asked me a while back to give a talk and Daniel asked me to sing with a group for a musical number, as well. While I was trying to get caught up, I forgot about the talk... :) So, I intended to write it the night before. Then, Ricky called and asked me to babysit. I said I would, and didn't get home until 10:30. Didn't get to sleep until 12? or 1? and I still hadn't written my talk. So, I woke up and wrote it the morning of. :) It turned out really well. Brother Pickeral told me I did a really great job, and I was glad because I wrote it in such a short amount of time. :)
Between all of this, I've been going to the gym, hanging out with Matt, and watching The Office! GREAT SHOW! :)

Well, now that I'm mostly caught up and hopefully re-energized after this weekend, I just need to focus on my choir music and getting it all memorized!
OOH!!! I'm going to start taking private voice lessons from Mr. Johnston, and I'm SO PUMPED! I really like that I've already had him for choir for three years so i'm comfortable singing in front of him. Plus, it's voice lessons! :) I'm still unsure of what I'm going to major in for college, but i want to do something with music and hopefully this is all going to help me work towards that.

SO, back to where we started. In the midst of all this crazy, mixed up, blurry couple of weeks, I have a real understanding now that I truely am a daughter of God and that He's up there watching out for me, and helping me to get through everything. He knows me, and he knows what's best for me. As hard as it is to see what I can be, he's helping me see it everyday. He's got a marvelous plan, and luckily I'm a part of it.

Oh to be seventeen again!!!

Well, I'm seventeen for a month and a half longer... so TAKE IT IN MOM!!! :)
Pretty soon, i'll be able to...

VOTE!!!

Man, this growing up thing just gets better and better. :)

Well, this week didn't start off so bad. On Monday we had an assembly from Balfour, which is the company that we buy our caps and gowns, tassles, announcements, and all the graduation stuff from. Throughout the assembly, my friends and I poked fun at the silly little trinkets you can buy that publicize your graduation. We poked the most fun at the $25 mug that SQUEEZED all 862 names of our graduating class on there. :) After taking all the information home, I show my mom the packet and her first words were "Who would want a $25 mug!!!?"
Needless to say, I stuck with the basics. Cap, gown, tassle, souvenir tassle(gotta have it for the car rear view mirror!!!), 2008 key chain, and announcements. :) The key chain might have been over-doing-it but it looks really cool. :) And I got outta there under $100!!! BARELY. Sick, right? Hey, but the announcements alone cost me $55? But, I figured that I'll spend the money now and then when the time comes, someone will be gratuful they don't have to make them.

On the subject of graduating, I got a Senior Profile Application today. Basically, when people with money come to our school and say "I've got money that I want to give to one of your students for college, who would you recommend?" now I will be considered. However, the application asks for your top 4 choices in colleges... which means I should probably decide what I'm going to do with my life. At the moment, I'm leaning towards Music Education... I'll be a high school choir director!!! Haha, or i'll marry a rich guy and not have to work at all and I can just teach piano or voice out of my home... I'd like that. I was also thinking that I'd major in journalism. I think that's always intrigued me. Well, if you've got any suggestions, I'd LOVE to hear them because i'm still extremely unsure. :)

Anyways, that was pretty much my week. Other than the football game in which we got cremated. :) (26-0) I still showed up all decked out in red and black, though! I even had "RM LIONS" painted on my face! :) You know, the epitimy of high school! :)

SUPERMOM!!!

here's my tribute to my mom... :) as much as she might think i hate her and i don't appreciate all she does for me, she's wrong. and i've realized that the more i think i'm getting older and i can do things on my own... the bigger the slap in the face comes that i can't really do it. :)

i just want her to know i love her, and i really do appreciate everything she does for me. :)

i love you, mom!

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!

I went babysitting on monday for my old boss at the mortgage company, and his kids are SO ADORABLE! I, however, completely agree. :) I'm kidding. It was good. I've been up since 5 AM and (pivitol moment...) I DIDN'T SNOOZEEEE!!!!!!! I was really proud of myself. Normally when I wake up, I purposely set my alarm clock to go off earlier than I need so that A) I can get up and not have to rush through getting ready or B) I can snooze a couple times before HAVING to get up. But, I got up on time today and I had biscuits and gravy for breakfast... (AMAZING)

My A Hour is Singers, so we got there and we sang! What a novel idea. It feels SOOO amazing to be back in choir and singing and sight reading. AH! Well, next was seminary and Luke is in my class, so naturally it was a riot. :) Then came an extremely boring english class followed by an AMAZING AP Spanish 5 class! :) I forget how much I love my spanish class because we just talk all the time and you get to learn SO much about the people in your class and it makes the class a million times more fun because you're that much closer to your classmates. :) Well, my 4th hour is Choir again, and, as always, it was good. :) Lots of people that love to sing.

Coming to work was really depressing... After being at school and feeling like a teenager that was just living up life I felt great, and then all my friends went out to lunch and I couldn't because I had to come here... I know that having this job is going to be really great for me. I need the money and it's REALLY great experience to have as a receptionist, but a lot of times I just want to be seventeen. :)

My phone broke this morning... I just got a new one 3 weeks ago, and it broke already. I swear you'd think I chuck these things around ALL DAYY!!!!! I don't.

Anyways, if you want to see a few pictures from our date saturday, go to Kayla's blog. She's got some one there. Otherwise, I'll get some on here eventually. :)

the importance of hands

I was once talking with a friend about how important hands were... In a symbolic way, hands are really what takes us through life. We always talk about "grabbing" life by the horns, or "holding" to the iron rod or when you get married, you take their hand to kneel across an altar...
well, a day or two after this conversation, I decided to write a poem... and this is what came out. I would like your input on it if you've got any. It's obviously still a work in progress. :) Thanks!

tiny little hands curled up tight in a fist
not yet learned, just attached to a wrist
quiet and gentle with so much in store
not yet aware; they're capable of more

small and still innocent to evil about
slowly but surely just taking their route
in mud and in dirt and in rock and in sand
these special hands are in all that they can

running and skipping and hopping and fun
playing and swimming all under the sun
these little hands are trouble and all
but they're also a cushion if someone should fall

these little hands know not of the trials,
troubles and problems that follow for miles.
temptation and pressure increasingly mounting
but these little hands are just learning their counting.

years down the road they've learned very much
like algebra and history and science and such
these little hands cannot see their potential
but slowly still slowly they're seeing what's crucial.

as mentioned before, these hands have a purpose
although it is hard, they must give their service
they faltered and tripped a time or two more
but eventually learned that they must implore

forgiven and learned they enter their mission
to seek those around; deprived of remission
these special hands beginning to fill
their purpose of helping the lost find a will

these special hands; prepared for this day
to take a lost soul and give them a way
they're strong and their firm and they take on the soul
to act as the lord in making them whole

Saturday's Rendezvous.

Saturday should be pretty exciting... :) Ivan from my ward called me last night and actually asked me on a date! How often does a guy actually call a girl and ask her on a date? I was SHOCKED. Yet... impressed. He told me that we were going to go to Kayla's and they guys, Ivan, Keith, and Thomas, were going to make us dinner. He also said we'd be doing some kind of activity afterward, but he would have to call me back with details later in the week. Anyways, I'm realllly excited! :) I wish I had pictures to put on here, but I'm always at work when I get on here. Anyways, I'll be sure and photographically document this weekend and get those on here. :)

PS. I think the best part about this weekend is that I get to look forward to it ALLLLLL week long. :)

The River!

Well, on Saturday, Alex, Rachel and I went tubign down the river. Haha, I haven't really decided how much fun it was yet... It was definitely relaxing. We all kinda just chilled and talked. It's a shame KAYLA couldn't go...

Anyways, we had fun and we're gonna do it again sometime but being lots of people and invite everyone so that it's more like a party. :)
