Making up for lost time.

Hey! So, officially I'm THE WORST at blogging in the world. I'll give you all a quick catch-up on life over here and then I PROMISE to start blogging regularly.

OK, so as most of you know I moved back to Arizona. I am currently attending Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy in Chandler. It's just off of Chandler Blvd. west of the I-10. And I'm LOVING it. I have 300 of 1600 hours and I get to move to the floor in about 3 weeks or so. I'm super pumped.
A little about how the school works:

Phase I: The first phase is a seven week program that basically covers the "Toni & Guy Classics." Which essentially is what TIGI(Toni&Guy) consider you're "bread and butter" of hairdressing if you will. It consists of about 10 cuts and 10 coloring techniques that, according to TIGI, are the basics of all hairdressing techniques. (something like that)
I finished that phase and am currently in...

Phase II: This phase is slightly more personalized. Where phase one was extremely structured and paced, in here I get to find a little bit of my hairdressing personality. We take all of the basics we learned in the first phase, and take it up a couple notches. We start to learn some of the "short-cuts" and things, also other ways to achieve the same look with faster, more effective techniques. We start formulating our own color and experimenting with it. We also get to work on models that we bring in. We're supposed to have 4 "test-out" models. 1 male, and a long, medium, and short haired women. All 4 must be a cut AND color in the same day. After two weeks, I already have 3 of my 4 test outs completed and I'll be finishing the final one on Saturday. Since I have them completed, I can bring in anyone now. even if it's just a cut or just a color. We're encouraged to start a "portfolio" so i can use all the models i can get. ;) (Let meknow if you need anything done! while I'm still in phase II it's free cuts and a $10 product charge for color.) Next, I'll move to the

Clinic Floor: Basically, this is where I am the rest of my time in school. I'll take clients on any days that I don't sign up for extra classes. Extra classes can be anything from learning more about the color lines to a fast foiling class for quicker highlighting techniques. Mostly, I'll be taking clients though.

I'm very excited about it and I'm loving it!

I finially got my records transferred to a ward here, I'm officially a part of the Valencia Ward in Gilbert. It's a singles ward and I'm actually enjoying it. It's VERY different than the college ward, but in a better way. It's much more dynamic and doesn't feel as monotonous.

My mom and I are working on getting my room here decorated and organized. I'm getting pretty excited about that. It will make this feel a little more like home :) which is a good thing.

I'm going to prom... again. ;) Ben is still a senior, so I'm going with him and his friends to their prom. I didn't go to mine and the one I did go to was more of a favor to a friend than anything else, so I'm excited. I got my dress and it's BEAUTIFUL. :) It's a VIBRANT red with just enough frills and ruffles to make it feminine vs. sexy. ;) I'm still on the hunt for some good black heels, but I'm very excited about that as well.

I think that's mostly it for now... I'll have to get some pictures of my dress and stuff. I'll make sure to get some from that night and put them on here.

And just for good measure... I'm down 15 lbs and only 15 more to go before swimsuit season! :) Wish me luck!

Happy Birthday to MEEEE!

So, my roommates decided to throw me a party for my birthday. And since I don't know anyone except them, we celebrated with their friends! A war broke out as soon as I blew out the candles...

this was my first attempt to clear the confetti and silly string off my clothes and out of my hair...

i think i eventually just gave up and decided to eat the skittles off the top of my birthday cake instead :)
little did i know i would turn into a freaking frosting fight... (this is the aftermath)
all i wanted to do was eat my cheese cake on my birthday and look what happened...

this is my frustration after they got frosting all over my blue sweater...

but i had fun :) thanks guys! and thank you MOM!!! for the lovely pajamas and the great perfume. :) i LOVE them. :)

Let it snow, let it snow, let it now... when i'm NOT here!

Here's the good news first... I voted!

Now, here's the bad new... We've got snow. And I have a feeling it's here to stay this time.

I officially have ZERO snow clothes. NO clue what I'm going to wear. and regardless of what I do wear it's going to freaking cold anyways!!! :)

I always used to think I wanted to come back to Idaho... I'm beginning to think it was actually punishment...
crap.

Life as I know it.

Where to start?

Well, I got a job as a telemarketer. I'm working for a company called Progrexion (pronounced progression) and I basically call people that requested a credit repair consultation. I talk with them about their credit a little bit, we talk about their goals and things their trying to acheive by repairing their credit and then I sell them a Credit Repair Service with Lexington Law Firm. if you go to www.lexingtonlaw.com it tells you all about hte program and how it works and what not... so if anyone needs credit repair... :) let me know.

I've been working there for three weeks now and the money isn't bad. :)

This Friday, I'm moving into my apartment... finally. :) The Beckley's have been wonderful in letting me stay here, but I'm definitely glad to get to a place where I can feel settled. Once I get there, I'll be sure and take pictures and everything so you can all see :)

So, the last few weeks, i've been spending most of my time with my new friend Kate. She's REALLY great. She is also a student here at BYU, but then again, WHO ISN'T?!?!?! Her major is Communications with minors in German and Philosophy. She's actually studying to take her LSAT's? I think that's what it's called. The test to get into Law School? Anyways, she's studying to do that right now so, obviously, she can go to Law School.

Anyways, that's most the updates I have at the moment. :) sorry I've been lazy lately.

I didn't burn the dinner!!!

Well... I had a rough day, so my mom suggested I go to the grocery store and get some groceries to make dinner for the Beckley's... seeing as they're letting me live here for free.
I thought it sounded like a good idea. It got me out of the house for a minute, and then it occupied my mind for a couple hours.
Well I decided to make chicken enchiladas, and when I put the first tortilla in the HOT oil, the oil popped and FRIED my arm...
Fun, huh? :)
Needless to say... the dinner came out and was NOT burned. My arm, however, suffered a much worse fate.

I still haven't found a job, but I know as long as I keep my faith in the Lord, everything will turn out ok. :)

the white house, the house by the hospital...

House number one. This house is the first house my family lived in after we moved to Idaho. There is two levels, an dmy family lived in the bottom level. Not long after...
We then moved to this house. This is the house that my family lived in right after I was born. I'm not sure how long we lived there, but we then moved to...

THE WHITE HOUSE. This house is INFAMOUS. As you can see, the house has two parts. The part on the right was actually built by my dad. Out of the whole house, there is only one bathroom.
This house is the place where SO MANY family memories were made... When we sold this house, we sold it for about $40-$45 thousand ten years ago... It's actually for sale today for $149 thousand.

This is where we lived after that. Or at least... the same land. It was a three bedroom two bath single wide and we had about 12 people living in it. MAN those were soem good times. :)
One house is missing... i forgot to get a picture of that one as we drove by, but it was about 6 or 7 thousand square feet it was HUGE and had about eight bedrooms. haha. needless to say we didn't stay there long...

This is the same picture from yesterday, but it's the hosue we lived in next. Again, the hospital has since bought it and turned it into landscape...
After that, we moved to Aberdeen, ID where we lived for a year and a half and after that we moved back to Arizona...
The rest is HISTORY...
My parents are kind of messing around with the idea of moving back to Rexburg... BYU has an Automotive Program for my dad and my mom thinks she can convince her mortgage company to open a branch here...
I really doubt it will happen, but I have to say... If my parents live here it makes the idea of BYU I seem about 1800 times less appealing... :) not that I don't love my parents.
Anyways, it's kinda the same stuff as yesterday, but a little more in depth with the Guthrie/Rexburg history.

Day one...

Haha this is the land that one of our old houses used to sit on... after we moved out, we rented it to someone else for a while and eventually sold it. the hospital that was behind it bought the house and turned it into landscape. :) it's very pretty and i don't know if you can see but there are a couple pine trees that are actually the same ones that were there when we lived there. :)
The Rexburg, ID temple... it sits up on the highest hill in town and it's right behind BYU but from almost any part in town you can see the temple up on it's hill... not the best picture, but you get the point.

my mom and dad with uncle butch and his wife

this is a picture of my uncle butch's yard. it is this immaculate pond in his yard with flowers, a bridge, and just the most absolute gorgeous landscaping you'll ever see. especially if you live in arizona!

We drove around Rexburg today and looked at some old houses or lots where they used to be and drove around BYU campus and looked at some housing... here's the pictures of the day i didn't get very many, and you won't really appreciate them unless your hanna and ashley :) but i'm posting and that's what is important!!!

Moving to Idaho, Baby!

So, as it draws nearer to my ETD of July 19th, I can't help but start feeling the crazy nerves coming on. :)
I started my adventure of college with Chandler Gilbert Community College. By taking a test and where I ranked in my class, i wouldn't have to pay tuition or anything.
Soon, however, I started to realize I wanted to go somewhere with the esteem of a four year university. I started applying to several different colleges just to see what I could get back. I applied to NAU, BYU, BYUI, and BYUH. The only one I didn't get accepted to was BYU. I was bummed for a bit, but after I realized I had gotten accepted to a school in Hawaii, I was PUMPED!!! I turned in my intent to enroll, and then things started not to feel right. The cost of living was so high in Hawaii that it didn't feel like it was going to be a posibility. I began looking for other avenues. I thought about staying here for a while and just getting some generals out of the way, but not many people were keen on that idea. So, I began to focus some energy on NAU. I got accepted, and I auditioned for their music program and was provisionally accepted there as well. I then received a letter form NAU stating that I was being awarded the Deans Scholarship. Which was equal to $2,500 for each year I was there. Adding up to $10,000 dollars in free education. But something still felt wrong.
(I know what you're thinking)
After having a few minor rows with my parents and a long talk with my bishop, i decided it was time to employ the service of my Heavenly Father.
I began to pray to Him and I would ask him what I was supposed to do. I wouldn't receive any direct answers, and I was confused at why I was finding these answers so difficult to hear.
Suddenly, the thought of BYUI literally had popped into my head. From the moment I knew I was accepted there, I blew it off, so the thought was a little spiradic.
The following weekend was conference, and during the week prior in seminary, my seminary teacher had talked about making sure we had questions we needed answered before we started watching conference.
On sunday, when I sat down for conference I knew my questions and I had a pad of paper and and a pen and i just wrote away. :) In the middle of the session, I felt a very calming sense of peace come over me and the spirit whispered to me that BYUI was where I needed to go.
As soon as conference was over I went in my room, I said a prayer and nothing has felt wrong about it since then.

(I think i'm writing this all to reassure myself, but now you all get something to read)

I guess my point is that even though i'm having trouble with my car situation trying to get approved for a loan, and it's not going to be easy to love the people I love and care about here, I know it's all going to be ok.
This is where i'm supposed to be going, and I know that.
I know that no matter what is thrown my way as long as i keep my focus straight, I'll be not only prepared for whatever comes, but less will come because I'm following the Lord. :)

Thanks for letting me reassure myself to you. :)
Also, thank you shanda for the heads up about the job :) I appreciate it!!!

Welcome to the Arizona All State Choir Audition

I did it!!! You're looking at the Blog of the thirty something-th chair alto in the Arizona All State Choir... :)

Sweet right?

So Basically it goes like this.

There are right regions in the state of arizona. Each high school in the state is "assigned" a region. When you audition for regionals, your auditioning against 400 + people and only 100 make it. well, if you make it, you are then allowed to audition for All state. so 800 kids try out for all state and 200 make it...

I"M ONE OF THEM!!! :)

Cool, huh?

That's my exciting news for the day. :)
